The healing process
Trauma can be deeper and more hurtful than anything that bleeds. Every part of the brain is affected from trauma or prolonged depression and anxiety.
My therapy uses a bottom-up and top-down approach. What does that mean? Bottom-up refers to the unprocessed pain stored in the body and helping you relieve, tolerate, and integrate your body and mind. Top-down refers to identifying beliefs and behavior patterns that are no longer serving you and giving you the tools to make lasting change. And believe it or not, change can be fun!
I can relate
I am no stranger to mental health struggles and know intimately how it can feel like taking on Godzilla to do a once simple task or ask for help. I fought hard to transform myself and pull myself out but I discovered that the relationship with a therapist was the missing piece to moving forward. Having someone to tell my darkest thoughts and hold space for those was the foundation for accepting myself and opening up to all of the strengths I possessed. I'm thankful for these challenges as it's made me that much more passionate about mental health and grateful that I can use my struggles to help others.
